Hey all! Newbie here. I just upgraded from my 82 Mazda GLC to a 91 MX6 LX, and have a couple questions. The "rear light" warning light, lights up occasionly when using headlights, although all the lights, signals, etc. seem to work perfectly. Any ideas?
Second, it's an automatic tranny, and when it's cold the check engine light comes on. Once it's warmed up, it goes out unless it's at an idle. Every stop light/sign, or even on a slow turn, it comes on. Any thoughts on this one? Any help would be great!

yeah the warning light for your brakes comming on is more than likly an electrical problem...which is a pain in the ass to fix.
But before you go and start ripping out the wirring harness for your brake lights check a few things.

First does the warning light come on when you break? or only when you turn on your headlights? If it comes on when you break, get someone to get in your car and push the breaks, while you go to the back of the car and look, is the whole back lit up, or just the sides (on both sides), if the middle isn't lit up then you could have a burnt bulb, do you have a spoiler? if so check the break light on the spoiler. If the brake warning light only comes on when you turn on your headlights then it sounds to me like someone did some rewiring and made a mistake, but then again when electrical problems start in the MX-6 funny things happen.
Does your high beam indacator light come on when you have you high beams on? if it dosn't ever come on, but the brake warning light comes on when your high beams are on then someone hooked up the high beam indactor light to the brake warning light by a mistake. There is all sorts of senarios that there could be causing this problem

Good luck
