ok i have an 88' auto gt, and i need to know if the shift linkage cable has an adjustment or do you just have to replace it. there is almost 3/4 to 1 inch of play in the cable causing the tranny to not always engage the correct gear there is way to much slop. Any help is appreciated on how to adjust the tension on the cable of there is an adjustment. Also if i have to replace it, how much do they run. thanks alot!

Eek. Im not sure that there is an adjustment. It's been too long since my car was an auto. As for replacing it..seems like a pain. Not sure how much they run, either. Tell you what, take off the VAF and piping above the transmission. You will see the "shift linkage". If there is a locknut and a threaded part..then you can adjust it. Otherwise, no dice.
