I have changed pads on an old car which wasn't to bad but I'm not sure if theres anything special that needs to be done..

Simple enough if you've done it before on an old car then this will be no problem. It is the type that you undo one bolt (bottom) and the whole caliper assembly swings up out of the way. the brake hose is flexible and can stay connected. A bit of high temp greese on the locking bolt and the hinge pin will help next time you have to do it.
Make sure your break fluid resevoir cap is off while you do it.

P.S. Be careful of that break dust.
