Alarm goes off

Hi, I have a 1994 MX-6. Years ago, the electric door locks began to seize up in cold weather, because the actuators that work the passenger door from the driver's side lock would become unworkable in the cold. I had my garage mechanic disconnect the actuators recently. Now the alarm will reset itself whenever the driver's door is closed without locking. The alarm then goes off as soon as the door is opened. (It's O.K. when the door has been locked, and then unlocked.)

We want to keep the lock actuators disconnected. Does anyone have experience with this? Any ideas?
