Over the past 3 weeks i've had 2 alternator belts break on me. I have a 94 4 cyl. The first one i had a mechanic replace but this time i'm trying to do it myself, however I cannot find the adjuster bolt to loosen the alternator belt system so i can fit the new one on. Can anyone help me out on this?

actually there are two bolts you have to mess with theyre both under the power steering pump and a pain in the ass to get to.

There are two bolts. And one is right above the alternator( im guessing its an adjustor bolt) and the other is underneath. Your going to need to jack up your car to get it. Take out the tire and the well side cover> itll make it easier to work with.

i think that ur thinking of the v6??? on the i4 it would be near impossible to get to any of the belt tensioner bolts from under the car on the i4. i forgot where the alternator was located before its behind the engine right? if so then both the bolts are ontop of it. one of the bolts adjusts the tension and then the othe locks the tensioner in place so it cant move. if ur going to do both the belts then ull need to mess with 4 bolts. i think u might have to anyway because the alternator belt is located behind the p/s pump.

Well I am talking about the I4. I have one and there is one bolt on top that is the adjust/tension bolt and another that looks like it is holding it on the mount.

yeah and I thought that you had to remove that stuff for both engines. For the v6 you have to remove alotof stuff from underneath the car to get to it.

sorry about that.
