Yeah, maybe the reviewer was trying to shove his drink into the center console pocket. That's about all I can figure, cuz this thing only has one cupholder. And yeah, that's an MX-3 in the picture. :p

btw, thanks for the link to those reviews. I just got a little ego boost for my car. :D

I have a 96 M-Edition and I have a bunch of holes around my center console so maybe it had one before I bought it but I dont at the moment, and as for that "trying to shove a drink in the middle console" I do that all the time:p it works on sonics large drinks, anything else probably would fall over anyways, laters

I have a 93ls and I have the middle cup holder.....in the trunk. The thing is a pain in the a**, for the driver and the pasenger. If you want to use the thing you cant put anything in your center console but change and if I remember right you have to take the piece out in order to close the lid (not sure though). If you dont have it, don't worry your not missing anything.

"a short-throw unit to get you into and out of each gear quickly"
what does this guy drive that he thinks the mx6 has short throws?? the only car ive ridden in that has a longer shift than the mx6 is a 97 VR6, now that is a looong shift!

I have a 93 LS MTX and i have 2 cupholders, one to the left of the steering wheel and one in my center console too. cheerios... the center console is the flap that opens up inbetween the two front seats. I think mine is removable aswell.

you've never driven a mtx wrangler then..

shifting that truck was similar to rowing a boat.

LOL, I was just going to post that.....

Seriously though, TONS of cars have longer sloppier throws then the mx6. Not many manufacturers figured out how to make a good shifter till quite recently.

Picture of the standard center console cup holder ...

Mazda offered an optional center console which increased the car's meager storage capacity, slightly. The option replaced the original lid. The top flipped back flat, offering a table (not holders) for 2 cups. Good for the drive-in, not good for driving. Because the replacement lid increased the overall height of the center console, the problem I ran into was my elbow would hit it when I shift.

very interesting....so does the standard center console cupholder do a good job holding cups and just get in the way when its not or is it a bad holder in general...... i learn something new everyday, if i had back passengers more often that table option thing might be nice....
