There are two large junkyards in my area that I tend to visit frequently due to being friendly to deal with. One of them I started going to because they have a lot of Rangers and Escorts. The second one I went to because they also have a lot of Escorts, and they also had a couple MX-6s; because of this, I stopped going to to first one after selling my Ranger. My dad just bought a 94 GMC Sierra and I was looking for parts for him at both of them when I came across a near-mint 88 MX-6 GT at the first junkyard (that I hadn't visited in several months). Near as I can tell the only thing wrong with this car is the floor is just about completely rotted away. All the body panels are perfect as well as all the glass. I looked inside and quickly nabbed these...

The odometer reads 188860. And the car hasn't been licensed/inspected since 2002. They said I could get the whole car for $125 + my Escort on trade... but if I brought another car home my mom would kill me. I paid $40 for the cluster, radio & grille (plus some brand new plug wires). I can get all the seats, door panels, and rear side panels to go with the dash from my DX for $70... (all gray) and I figure I could probably just get the head, turbo & associated gear for cheap... the transaxle has been rebuilt at some point in its life as well. I can build up a turbo engine with the spare LX block I have... decisions!

I can't tell you how many times i've gone to different yards just for that bastard. You sir are lucky indeed. I love the dash man, rock it like you would a new pair of pants. Only with more enthusiam i hope

And didn't know that about the probe under-seat drawer, that's a sweet little mod I may have to look into.
Sadly most of the yards anywhere near me are only open m-f (how they get business I have no clue) and aren't close enough to go there after work before they close.
