every first gen gt's ive owned did this...

EX: say you start your can and let it run... it sounds rather loud and strange motor sounds..

now if you get in your car and push the clutch in the motor purr's and the annoying wine goes away..

ive had 3 1st gen gt's and everyone did this..

my question is it somehting i can fix? lube up? change bearings?

AND IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU POST UP!

I HATE IT.. i will soon be installing the fidanza fw and dual friction clutch.. and new slave cylinder.. and throw out bearing..

Yeah mine does the same thing, hums in neutral but push the clutch in and the sound fades away, as the tranny parts spin down.To me it sounds like the bearings in the trans axle case.
you know shaft bearings ,do low miles tranny (under 70K) do this too?

I've had this problem on 2 different trannies and 2 different t/o bearings. Now I'm thinking it's either the ac compressor or timing tensioner. Only happens when it's cold.

Throw-out bearing maybe?
That is it, mine has always made the noise. Its a high pitched scretch. Goes away fully when clutch is pushed.

It use to bother me, now Im use to it but I always hear it. No ones ever asked me what the sound is so its all good.
