First I have to say, I have already performed a search and found nothing similar to what is happening with my car.
Here's the deal:
When driving, the trans. works just fine until I let off the gas pedal completely, at which point the trans. kicks down a gear and the "hold" light flashes. It will remain in this "holdiing pattern" until I come to a complete stop. When I accelerate once more the hold light turns off, and the trans. shifts fine. It normally only happens while in drive. Once in a while it will happen while in second, but only sporadicaly. If I keep a slight pressure on the pedal (keeping the rpms around 1Grand) the problem is non-existent.

How do I pull codes from a 89 GT atx?
Has anyone ever had this happen? (I found a few posts where it was anything from a faulty VSS, a faulty governor, or even a dist. problem!)

Thanks, -Britt-

Ok, i have had this happen to me twice. Could be a few things.

What happen to me was:
1. a hose broke loose on the expessway and dumped all my trans fluid without me knowing it. Long story short, torque converter melted. Its cool, was under warranty! haha

2. Speedomete cable came loose and was reading the proper speed.

Both times the hold light flashed. Its basically telling you somethings wrong with a sensor of some sort in the transmission. Now all you have to do is find it. Check your fluid level and your speedo cable. After that i have no idea but its in the same area.

"hold"

It could be either a sticky shift solenoid valve or perhaps the tranny's throttle kick- down linkage needs adjusted. As previously mentioned, first check the fluid level and it's condition. At least the lite isn't staying on, which usually indicates trouble. Maybe something is just loose or out of position.
