So i'm going to take this job on myself. Since i have not really worked on cars before buying this 6, any tips would be most helpful.

I've been reading that most people buy their Axle kits from a local parts store (90$ Canadain was the only $$ someone stated). Ture? Or is there somewhere cheaper on-line?

half shafts

The average price for a single reconditioned shaft is usually less than $75 US, depending on where you shop. This is not a "kit", but a complete ready to mount shaft. You must pay a core deposit, which is refundable upon returning the old shaft.
The hardest part of the job is removing the center hub retaining nut. Check with our "search" for more info on actual installation tips before undertaking this project..
