Ok i just recently purchaced a 91 B2200 and its way too slow. I have looked briefly into it and seen that Fe3 swaps are common. My quesiton is, where can i find one (not the KIA motor because i dont wan2 do a rebuild to turbo it) and can i use my stock tranny?

A Kia Sportage is the only source of North American FE3s. Otherwise, you'll have to import one, and chances are it'll be FWD configuration anyways. Better off getting one out of a Sportage, that way you have the RWD transmission already.
RWD plumbing mabe, rwd "KIA" transmition wont help you in a B2200. Look around there are companies in the US with FE3N's to sell. Look in the FE-DOHC section on the first gen forum.
use your tranny, or upgrade, if you plan on turboing the fe3, with a rx7 one. (i belive)

and why couldn't you use a sportage (2wd) tranny?
you, in theory, could. The problems would be witth the custom driveshaft, linkage, mounts and all the other shizzle you would have to fab to make it work. To mutch for a cheap KIA tranny. The RX7 idea is a strong substitute, coupled with a Ford 9" rear end, makes for a tough Mazda B2200 :)

the getrag trannys are pretty tough (i'm talking a GM one here) maybe its a different story on the KIA.

And i'd like to see how close they were, chances are they'd be very close.

And, if one was to go to the extent of changing the rear end (dumb, unless you are running slicks) even then it'd be sketchy, as even those rx7 trannys would still be the weak link in stock form.
And a built tranny doesn't come cheap either.

if you did want to go big, get a built rx7 tranny, and a 8.8 rear in it, instead of the 9", (8.8's are easy to find, most are posi, and tonns of parts/gear options, as well as axle options, in both 28 and 31 spline, and, 4 and 5 lug)
There really close to the same length too, as the stock rear.
Cut the spring perch's off, and weld on some plates for the leaf springs.

Anyways, thats why I mentioned the Kia tranny. I think it would take a bit more abuse that the pathetic b2200 tranny, and chances would be pretty good, that it might be really close in length, to the stock one.

If we had 2wd Kia's in Canada (never seen one here)??? I'd love to measure and compare the trannys.

there is a LOT of WTF in this thread :)

B2600 has an 8" rear that will hold up to a lot of power

the stock gearbox is good for about 300hp if you don't abuse it.

the kia is MORE ready for boost than the mazda because of its low compression.

it's also easier to swap into the ute because it's rwd.

unless you go TII the rx7 and miata trannies are just the same as the b2200 except have better ratios and taller teeth. NOT fundamentally stronger at all.

just going fe3 will give you a 50% increase in boogy, mild boost (10psi) will be plenty fast and the box and even the 7" american spec rear will take it fine.

Fred.
