Isn't it ironic that I break my water pump on my way to a meet AND I am the author of the water pump install write up? I learned my lesson though, propper torque. Yes, I didn't torque down the idler and the boom! the tensioner BREAKS off. Anyway on installation, the bolt in the corner of the pump closest to the tensioner snaps off with 8mm left to go. So now that bolt is stuck in my block. Yeay!

Its an extracting drill bit. I'm not much of a drilling guy, I don't even own one but, that was what my friend used to extract a few broken studs from my valve cover. They worked great.

EZ outs

While these work well, an alternative might be to remove the pump.......as this will allow the remaining broken bolt to be easily removed and replaced without drilling. The bolt should loosen by using vice grips.Sometimes it's tough to get a drill into tight places to start the EZ out.

~Hey Panther: Perhaps while it's fresh on your mind, you should "rewrite" your install to reflect this experience reflecting the importance of proper torque in critical areas such as this. Ya probably got off rather lucky, as there could've been more potential damage.

There's really no way to get @ the bolt without taking the pump off and raising the engine. If you reread the write up, it sais that it's been updated. @-
