CAI in the winter time?

518 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  skiingman
This is my first time to actually buy something for my car, because I only had it for couple of months. It is going to be winter soon, and I am going to buy a CAI for my 6.

I am just wondering if it is a good idea to be one.
I thought about it a lot and this question keeps popin in mind,
Will it ruin my filter and my performance?

From what I have heard, there are occasional instances where an engine will suck up a significant amount of water and seize, thus ruining the engine, but this happens few and far between. Almost everyone says that you are fine to run a cai in the winter. But, it also depends on where you live. Now, depending on what planet you are on...:D

If you live somewhere with a lot of standing water you might want to forego the CAI. Its generally pretty safe, though I do personally know someone that hydrolocked a SAAB motor, so it does happen :)

Whatever you do, don't do the coolant bypass mod. That WILL suck in the winter.

EDIT: You should add, "or die" to your sig. Don't be stupid out there man, I need another mx6 and the fewer that are crushed up the better :)
