The engine code names are as follows

2.2L nonturbo ---------->F2
2.2L Turbo ------------->F2T
2.0L 8v ---------------->FE (pre 1988)
2.0L 16v --------------->FE3 (1st gen, j-spec)
2.0L 16v --------------->FS (2nd gen)
2.0L 16v --------------->FSZE (2nd gen, j-spec)
2.5L 24v --------------->KL03 (2nd gen)
2.5L 24v --------------->KLZE (2nd gen, j-spec)

hmm, that's all that I know, for the MX6 and 626

no cam gears that i know of. You can check if the mazda B-series trucks have adj cam gears. The pickups had similar engines.

How about moving the cam gear 1 tooth foreward or back? Wouldn't be as easy as a timing gear, and I don't know how many degrees one tooth would equal. But it would advance or retard the cam timing depending on the direction. Anybody thought of this? Would it work?

Unfortunately nobody makes adjustable cam gears for our cars. I sure wish they did, cuz that would help us out a bit. I wouldnt suggest setting the cam gear off a whole tooth. That's way too extreme of an adjustment, and the car will run horribly as a result. I wonder if we can get a company like unorthodox racing to make some gears for us if we got a bulk buy thing going.
