ok here's what happens... i'd say about 50% of the time when i drive my car, the temp fluctuates from about half to the 3/4 mark... but when i drive it in the freeway it goes back down... sometimes it gets near the red.. but then it jumps back to normal really fast... it does that crazy jumping thing every once in a while too...

i just got an oil change, new water pump, new radiator (6 months ago)... i don't know wassup... thermostat maybe? oh and oh yea.. fans seem to be turning on when they need to... help me please... thnx.. peace out.

Not sure what is causing it - but I am having the same problem. My car has a new water pump, regular oil changes etc, so I am also thinking the thermostat.

I'm going to be taking the car to the local MX6 expert here in ATL (thanks to a good recommendation here on mx6.com) and I'll post whatever he tells me might be the problem.

Good luck.

Not good to hear, and I feel your pain.

Have the same problem, for over two weeks now. I am also loosing a little water, and my mechanic said it looks like steam is escaping through the exhaust system. He advised that it might be a cracked head or blown head gasket, but I don't want to accept that. Can this be the case? I have replaced the thermostat (the old one stopped opening, did the test, damn rubber has fused with the metal).

Ran some chem-i-weld through the system, in case it was a cracked head, has been there for a week or so. Now want to flush the entire system without waiting for the thermostat to open. How do I do this?, anyone?

I will be seeing a cooling specialist shortly, and will post results

Anyway, hope someone has some answers for this problem. Good luck guys
