Hi guys,
I have a 93 MX-6 2.5 UK spec so I think built in Japan and I want to get a spare remote locking key fob.

The car has an alarm which looks like it might be aftermarket but it works with the remote central locking.
The key fob remote has Mazda on it, it only has one button that locks and unlocks.

Can anyone tell me

• Is the car likely to have had remote central locking when new?
• Are new original or compatible key fobs available?

I found a post on this site for programming new remotes but the author talked about their remote having two buttons.

All help will be much appreciated, I don’t want to get stuck one day because the button fails.

I have a photo of the key fob but need to find out how to post it.

Thanks
Kevin

I found out it’s a dealer fit Mazda Finishline alarm. It’s a one button remote, I’ve searched the internet and can find plenty of two button remotes.

Does anyone know what frequency they operate at? Or if the two button remotes can be used.

Thanks
Kevin
