Clifford alarm/keyless entry problem

3802 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  NK1993MX6
In my mx6 i have a clifford alarm installed. Its a great alarm not to sensitive but just enough. it even play a catchy tune when you put the battery in the remote! The problem is though when i attempt to unlock the car with my remote it doesnt unlock and plays the song. I then press the lock button and it syncs with the car and re-locks the car. after that rarely i can push the unlock button and get the car unlocked without it playing that music. Is my remote needing to be replaced? reconfigured? will i have to install a whole new alarm system in my car?
The only info i have on the alarm at the moment is from the back of the remote.

Thanks in advance

Mods if you have the time move this thread please other wise i will just repost tomorrow :)
I would guess that you have a problem with your remote. If you got it installed somewhere, they might look at it for free.
Starting a new thread in audio/electronics. mods please close :)

That would be he best bet but it was installed before i bought the car, leaving me with no information at all.
thats certainly a bit weird. I know vipers have code hopping where they change the alarm code every time the fob is locked. And Viper is either owned by or owns clifford so they are pretty similar. Could be what has happend is the remote is out of sync and just can't catch up with the alarm. Try to disconnect it from the battery for a few hours and reconnect it and see what happens. It'll give the alarms memory, if it has one, to be erased and maybe this will fix it. I'm not an alarm guy but i read a lot lol.
4cylfun.

thanks for your input. i tried this yesterday and once i put the battery back in it played the song. and operated like before. maybe the remote is just broken? it seems like it. sometimes i push the little antenna into the remote and it works after trying several times.
