Clutch noise or something else?

659 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ninog
Just started noticing a light click sound when 1st accelerating/changing gears (5spd) or nailing the gas while rolling. Sound is under the hood. Wondering if it could be clutch related or a wearing engine or trans mount. Thanks gang!

could be mounts, could be control arms. Do you feel anything when it happens or is there just a noise?
no don't feel anything, just the noise.
does it happen while accelerating in every gear? if so its sounds like it could be your ring and pinion.

Not sure if this goes along with the symptoms, but now when cornering hard to the right ON THE GAS the wheel shakes BUT cornering with no gas is smooth. Gas or no gas, don't get any shaking when turning left.

This is an obvious symptom of something wrong, just not sure what. Any help is appreciated before I get stranded somewhere.
The first idea I'm having is that it is your CV joints. Damaged or worn CV joints usually get noisy while turning. Take a quick look behind your rotors to see if your CV boots are ripped. If they are its usually a symptom of a CV or drivetrain problem.
