So, which CAI should I go with? What is the best, pacesetter, hotshot, weapon r? (I can't find that one, so a site would be helpful if anyone knows it). Are there in others? I would appreciate you guys helping me out.

Where can you find the Hot Shot CAI I've looked but haven't been able to find it. Also doesn't it bottom out once your car's lowered? I saw a picture of it on here once and it seems like it sticks out a little lower that the rest of the car? Also doesn't it get filled with crap easily???

The hotshot intake DOES relocate the cone filter towards the bottom of the engine, basically on the splashguard. Go to my site and you'll see some pictures on the install page. Though this is a good location for it, the filter does get damaged and dirtier faster. Then again, if you clean it once every so often, youshouldn't have any problems. The PRM CAI places the filter right on the MAF but then has a pipe, similar to the hotshot that runs down towards th ebottom of the car. Both of them are good, it just depends on the rain in your area. If you get a lot of rain or constant flooding, go for the PRM, if not, hotshot CAIs are pretty good.

PRM does not currently make a CAI for our cars. As far as the fitment in of the HS CAI for ATX, when I look down the front exhaust manifold, it looks like there is enough room to run a HS pipe in there.

Take a look at these

This weekend, I;m going to grap hy HS tube and stick in in there and see if there is enough room for the ATX one.

I've got the HS intake for the ATX. It's curves a lot more than the one for the MTX. The guys at the auto shop got a laugh when it came in - they actually took it around showing it to people that worked there.

How do you like the KL-ZE?? How much hp are you getting out of it? Had any probs. A shop here told me there's better potential if I stick with the North American engine.

I love it! I bought f]rom japan direct at http://www.usedengines.com for $1400 shipped with a 6 month waranty which they will honor(I blew a head 2 months after I had it, which they covered. They will not cover any gaskets though,so I had my mechanic replace them all durring instalation.

It is very quick, it picks up as soon as 2600 rpm and keeps on pulling strongly. there are no dynos in my state, so I have not been able to dyno it yet.

As for the american car making more power, you could get away with more hp by fi or nos because of the lower comp ratio. But, I have a buddy who had raw power do $ 1300 worth of mods (stage five manifold, bored pistons, as well as other goodies) and my car was still faster than his.

so how long have you had the KL-ZE in the car for? I'm really torn I'd love the KL and it's cheaper, but it's supposedly harder to turbo and it can't run the high psi's that the american engine can. Unfortuntley there's only one really good Mazda guy in town around here so it's hard to find another opinion on the situation. Do you have a good mechanic who did yours I'd really like to hear another side of this story. Thanks for the help so far jr.

If you really want to talk to some one who knows these motors inside and out, has succesfully installed a SC and is running low 13's on his KLZE, check out michels forters(sp) site at http://www.naplesnews.com/staff/fortier/suprprobe/Home.html\

He helped me out quite a bit when I was looking into my motor swap.

I have had the motor for almost 3 years now. Aside from the heads going bad and my head gasket blowing 9 months after I had it, it still runs great. I even pass emisions.

back on topic...i installed my hotshot CAI this past weekend and I love it. It's been raining ever since, and alhtough I've been very nervous since the filter sits so damn low its been fine. I'll check it all out tomorrow when I have time and see how dirty it is getting. I may chop off an inch or two off the tube, or just raise the unit itself by putting a washer underneath it...Not sure if this will restrict any air flow though?

Thanks a lot for the hepl MX-6 Boy I really appreciate it I'll check out that site for sure. I think I'd really like to put the KL-ZE in my 6 next summer.

Black93, did you go from the stock intake to the Hot Shots or did you have an aftermarket intake first? I was just wondering if you had an aftermarket one first have you noticed a difference.
