Curved neck require different IAC?

I think I remember something a long while ago about a curved neck IM requiring a different IAC due to it's components sticking out on the bottom. I'm not sure what it would hit other than maybe the hoist point or a fuel rail, but maybe someone can confirm what's actually required.

Pictures of the setup and potential obstructions would be great.

The curved neck does indeed need a different throttle body and IAC. If you try to use the DE or straight neck ZE throttle body and IAC you will end up hitting the thermostat housing with the IAC (black cylinder part). I don't have any pics, but I've bored a few of these and know what I'm talking about.
so what will i have to do to pervent this from happening???

Magoo, I believe you need to get an IAC for a curved neck IM.

Renboy, are you 100% that the throttle body itself is different? I'm confident in the R&I of IACs on a throttle body. So if we can just use a stock TB (DE or ZE) and a curved neck IAC, let us know.
I'm 100% positive that they're different. If you take the IAC off a DE/ZE and put it beside a curved one you'll see that at the bottom where it mates to the IAC the curved is a mirror image. For a curved neck manifold you have to use a curved neck throttle body and curved neck IAC. If you need one, you have the benefit that in the states there were a lot more 2.5L millenia's than in Canada, just hit up a scrapyard.

i know u guys are probably annoyed by all my "common sense" questions but, i will need a throttle body from a millenia???

Yes, you need a curved neck IM's throttle body and IAC. This could be taken from a Mazda Millenia 2.5L motor.

Magoo, make sure you don't get one from the miller cycle millenia, those are useless. And out of curiousity, why the curved neck manifold? And how soon do you need the throttle body and IAC? I have a bored one (65mm) sitting in my basement that I'd part with, and I have a spare IAC for it too.

well i got it for a real good deal. 100 bucks for a KLZE manifold? i jumped on it like no tomorrow. thats y i got it. but i do want it on as soon as possible. well at least before spring time.

what do u mean a "miller cycle millenia"???
That's definitely a good deal Magoo!

The Millenia had two different motors. One was a 2.5L variant of our stock motor. The other was a 2.3L with a supercharger as it's intake manifold. Renboy is saying that the throttle body/IAC from the 2.3L *WILL NOT* work for your curved neck IM.
ok that sound cool. so i will need to get ALL of the throttle body and IAC off the 2.5L millenia, correct???

those anybody have a picture of a IAC???
cause i still dont knoe how it looks like. i dont want to grab the wrong thing if u know what i mean. lolz
Yes, you need a TB/IAC combo from a 2.5L Millenia.

Sounds like Renboy has what you need, but it's bored out so likely going to cost you more than the local JY for a stock one. Up to you if you want a bored one or not. It's going to cost more than the IM cost you I bet.
