My freind's brother just went out and bought a 94' rx7 twin turbo last week. When i was over there sunday he started talking his [email protected]$& about how he was going to show a real mazda so we went out and lined up in front of his house. i was dead even with him til about 15 mph, probably when the turbos kicked in and bam i have never had a car pull away from me that fast before. I think those cars would keep up with anything maybe even vipers. Did any one else ever race one of those?

My uncle used to autocross an RX-7 out in west-midwest USA. Those things are bottle-rockets and are in the same class with Vette's, Supra's and other FAST cars. He now races an M3.

Man, 3rd-gen RX7s are rockets. My friend bought a 1994 with 20,000 miles on the clock in the fall and allowed me the honour of a spin around the block at the helm.

The power is deceiving. It hits relatively late and doesn't seem to hit that hard, but over 3000 the car just pulls and pulls all the way to 8000RPM, never really feeling like it's running out of breath. Very linear power delivery; no sudden DSM-like turbo boost feeling.

2nd gear is good for over 100KPH and with that thrust, the strong clutch and the near-telepathic gearbox (never driven a car with such short throws, though the Miata prolly beats it there), 60MPH comes up in a tick over 5-seconds if you beat it. That's fully 2.5-seconds faster to just 60MPH than a stock PGT or V6 MX6. It's not suprising that one cleaned your clock

Vipers are faster by another 0.5-second to 60 but are pretty brutish compared to the RX7: sort of like chainsaw to scalpel...LOL That RX7 would give all but the ZR-1 and Z06 Corvettes and heckuva race. Pretty impressive from 1.3L effective displacement.

I DONT THINK SO SORRY... A VIPER PULLS A 0-60 OF 4.0 AND A NEW ZO6 HAS GOT A 4.3 BEFORE... SO I DOUBT AN RX7 IS GONNA COME CLOSE TO EITHER OF THOSE CARS... AND QUARTER MILE TIMES IS THE SAME WAY SO ITS FAST BUT NOT FAST LIKE THOSE TWO BADBOYS

rx-7 vs. the 911 turbo

I have seen the RX-7 vs Porshe showdown on an mpg and while it is amusing to watch you have to realize that the Porsche is a stock 911 turbo and the RX-7 was completely redone. On any day of the week a 911 turbo will beat the living hell out of anything up against it, especially if the 911 is modded at all. 0-60 in 3.5 like the RUF edition is pretty freakin hard to beat... If you wanted to beat this thing you'd be shelling out close to $1,000,000 for a Maclaren F1

For a million bucks the McLarens 1/4 mile is pretty sad. At 11.6 it only beats the new 911 Turbo by .7 secs. Now the McLaren is much fast in the top end hittin somewhere around 236mph to the Porsches 189mph, But a million dollars is a lot of money. I say buy a 911 turbo. Up the boost and a bigger sixth gear and go F1 hunting!!

AAHHHHHH the RX7 probable the only car I'd concider changing my 6 for. No take that back the wife could have the 6 and we'd get rid of her Rover. Now how about that for a combination on the driveway.

Actually it wouldnt take very much modification to get that kind of performance out of an RX7. There's plenty of Rx-7's out there running 10's and even 9's. Oh and BTW. PLEASE TAKE THE CAPS LOCK OFF.

What a lot of RX7 drivers do is remove the twin turbo and put in a huge single turbo. I have see modified RX7s blow the doors off many cars, one included a NOS 98 Corvette. With cars like this in this class (pure sport car) you can modify it to beat anything. It all depends on the time and $$$ you want to spend.
