I'm thinking of doing this. I know there are a couple of brands, DBA being one of them , the other is some other initials B something?

Is drilled and slotted front and slotted rear and Bendix Ultimas the best combo or are there other suggestions?

TIA

DBA Xdrilled at $183F/$165R
DBA Slotted at $145F/$128R

Brembo is the other brand.

Slotted and X drilled have the same performance. X Drilled also has less surface area for friction and may crack.

If your after looks get X drilled on all four or bang for your bucks get slotted.

Losiho.
Thanks, I knew you had em. I was just wondering about possible alternatives.

Silver.
Thanks.
I might go all round with drilled and slotted.

I understand that cracking may occur, but in colder climates. Sydney??

BTW I think I'm going for AMG Matrix 17" and selling the 16" Anteras. (Sorry no scanner for pic).

Steve, my rotors are about done and it's time for neweys (front at least).

The prices silver got are good - the club site - also mentions Bendix Ultimates as the pad of choice - again, very good price there Peter.

Additionally, to make it all sing, Castrol SRF is the fluid of choice - replace every 18 months - needs a full brake fluid drain.

If there's more of us we should be able to go for a complete setup (rotor, pad, fluid) with good discount on the quoted price.

Ta Ric.

The other brand I was told to consider is EBB. Do you know anything about them? They also do those "greenstuff" pads.

I saw another add for "pbr".

They both have websites, I'll explore:- www.pbr.com.au and www.ebcbrakes.com.au

BTW ML has drilled and slotted all round.

PBR makes most of the OEM stuff for the Australian car manufactures. They don't offer slotted or x drilled. They mainly sell replacements parts for OEM.

EBC is a new player in the Aus market. I would stay with Bendix pads and DBA rotors. Made in Australia for Australian conditions.

Steve (red probe with headers) put the EBC Green Stuff onto his Probe and they completely trashed his stock rotors...

He's now on the Bendix Ultimates I believe.

The drilled and slotted DBA rotors that I ordered were $140.00 each.

This seems rather cheap.

I'd better check tommorrow that they haven't ordered just slotted in error.

The Bendix standard pads were $55.00 per two sets.

I still can't remember the name of the large retail chain "Car something".

Anyway if they are $140.00 I'll let you know, as it seems a bargain.

Should I cancel the standard pads and get ultimates do you think?

At $55 for two pairs I s'pose theyre worth a try.

Yeah. Just as I thought , they ordered the wrong ones.

Slotted were $140 drilled and slotted are $164 plus GST (Car Plus).

I'll check Repco tommorow, I think Car plus were only $88 odd pp.

Third time lucky, good job I'm a patient young man.

BTW They are $164.50 plust GST.

Pads 'll be about $116 I think.

I wouldn't go there (Car plus) after the saga that I had.

The only reason I got em for $167 plus GST, was the fact that I was mucked around so much.

Its a question of supply and demand i.e Falcon $164, (Pads $55)MX6 about $190 plus GST, (pads $88). I guess Gen 1 would be much the same price. ie $219 odd retail for the discs.

I think Peter (silver) posted hereabouts with a better price, might be on this thread.

They're on!

The cross drilled and slotted DBA rotors and new Bendix standard pads are in place.(Front).

Early days yet (2 hours!!) but the general feel is good, firm but not "bitey".

Good service at Pit****er Brake and Clutch in Narabeen (Sydney).

1 hours work, $65. Friendly knowledgable bloke.

Had a few opinions about metal pads and was swayed towards the standards as I'm doing no motor sport or "hard" driving and was warned of wear to the rotors with metals, anyway we'll see.

They do look smart especially the gold edges and centre hubs, I hope this stays gold, as you know that's where they rust and look bad on the standard ones.
