I am thinking of making my 1993 LS into a Dual Exhaust monster. I know it would look cool, but a few of my friends have told me it would reduce performance. I dont know how much they actually know so I came here. Their thought was that having dual exhaust would have less built up back pressure, resulting in slower acceleration. The opposite of putting the silencer in the cannon type exhaust produces more pressure resulting in better acceleration. They say it might make it go say 145 mph instead of 135 mph for a example. I really want to do this mod but not if it will make my car slower. Anyone got pics of this mod completed anyway?

EDIT: By Dual Exhaust I mean a single Cannon style exhaust on each side. Not a single dual exhaust muffler.

depends on where it splits, the size of the piping, ect. back pressure is essential in our cars because we don't put out a lot of exhaust pressure to begin w/ so reducing it would possibly give you a tad more high end power, but the losses in torque would most likely result in a slower net acceleration.

plus, most people will tell you, it looks dumb. don't do it
