While looking for a KLZE engine for my 6 I FOUND this..

"The reason I'm selling it is that my car's electrical system is OBD2 compliant ('96 mx6) and it would involve a lot of wire splicing that I don't have time for. For the OBD1 probe/mx6 owners, this would be a simple engine swap. "

Is this true???
If it is, will I have a harder time installing the engine on my 1997 than a person who is installing it on a 93??? HELPPPPPP!!!

There are no problems running the engine in a newer car, if you can stand CEL's from the non-OBDII compliant EGR system. The engine will work fine, it will just flash at you. Just throw in some dead O2 sensors.

Jeff Jetske just successfully installed a ZE on a 97 PGT with no codes. My guess is his bulb is burnt out because he didn't even tap the IM for the EGR, but he has been working on these cars for a while and knows his ****. Maybe he tricked the ECU somehow, or just got lucky.

Do you think I should leave the engine swap to 93-95 owners or should I try my luck??

Maybe if it is easier I should get a 1995 LS...:(

It's not that bad. And you know the repair record on your car. And it's a newer body. I'd always stick with what I knew if possible. I think you're better off with your car.

I still have the question : is there a japanese 96 or 97 engine that would make it easy for the american 96-97 swap???

Or does the klze only comes the way it is(OBD and that)

It's OBD1. Don't make such a big deal of it. Get a Aspec ECU and be done with it. You can get them for 20 bucks or so used. The ZE only comes in this form.
