EPROM installation, as promised.

Here it is the step by step instalation of a (Probinator) epromchip. Instilation performed on a 1989 Ford Probe GT ecu.



1. before installing, or taking apart or anything, make sure you ground yourself out for added protection. REMEMBER, THIS IS A COMPUTER TOO.

2. getting ready

3. take out screws. For thoes of you wondering why ther is only three, one philips head stripped out.

4. remove plate

5. set screws away

6. locate old EPROM

7. de-solder old EPROM

8. after de-solder, set old EPROM away.TIP. you might put it in an anti static bag for future use if you like if it isnt bad.

9. open new EPROM, but keep in pin shield.

10. solder in new EPROM removable socket. remember polarity!

11. never never ever ever use too much solder. just enough to cover circut traces and device pins.

12. there we go. finished. solder weld looks good. and solder is dragged up the pins of the device to ensure proper soldering practice.

14. locate the curved part of the socket. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT beacuse this is the polarity side of the new EPROM as well.

15. after all is done, locate all the screws and plate. and put things like you found it before the installation. everything should fit nicely back together.
