anybody have any input on an extremely high idle upon (cold) start up.the car is a 91 mx-6.it is my daily driver and i try and keep it in good working order.i understand the engine revs higher to warm up when cold ,but i am talkin 2,000 rpm and more.engine will scream for some time till motor is warm.idle comes down to normal after a while.i can hear the motor crying when the idle gets that high and all the oil is still in the pan.its only a 90,000 mile motor and want it to last.can anyone help me out with this.
thanx

I would go with checking the IAC a cars computer runs in "open loop" until it gets the proper reading from the coolant temp sensor. If the engine runs fine in "closed loop" which is where it takes readings from all sensors then its from something that operates in closed. Ford has always had IAC issues with their vehicles more so on the v-8's. I hope this helps you narrow down the problem source.
