A question for anyone that has had their Gen2 6 since they were released, when looking through cars and brochures every second car has the CD on top and theo others are on the bottom.

Was this a user chooses scenario, was it auto/manual issues, depending on production line, where ever they felt like fitting it?

Does anyone know if there was a reason to factory stereo fitment?

Probably got something to do with whether the CD was added in as a factory extra..
As if you only hade the tape deck from the factor it would be on top .. And if you asked for the cd they would just pull out the compartment/shelf and pop it in.. but if it cam from Mazda Japan with both the cd and the tape you would think the cd would be on the bottom.. (as to put the volume control up higher) .Or vice-versa .:shrug:
As your post has no point, I have no proof.. Just a guess..

I think one reason maybe auto manual
I can't open my double Din unit with out the car out of park or install/remove the unit. Cd is on top and just misses the shifter

Ok good point .. lets have a quick show of hands ..
Factory stereo location and transmit ion type..

I have a 5speed and the CD is on top .. I know my car did not come from Japan with the CD player in it, it was added in by the Ausy dealer..

It was absolutley and purely luck, nothing to do with auto or manual. The 2nd Gen I first test drove (manual) had the CD on top, my car has the CD on the bottom. Makes no difference :shrug:

yeah i pput my hand up for that PK my car is manual and its got a two spots for a stereo top and bottom the auto version is differnt again only one spot... its got a differt dash.. is there any changes like that in the gen 2 mx6 ?

My CD is on the bottom..

Perhaps a reason for this is that the primary controls for the stereo (volume, fade etc) are on the tape unit, which would be why its on the top, however when they were advertising the car, they really wanted to flog that it had a CD in it, so made this more prominent?

Well i think you would find that auto's woudl of had the CD in place from the factory noe added by the dealer. It was the case with most mazda's When you buy auto you get the lot all factory fitted.

I got a manual, but my CD player is up top...


Never really thought a bout it i suppose :shrug:
