Hi
I have a 93 Mx6 automatic. It is idling at 1500-2000 rpm. It just sometimes oscillates between those two limits. I have been told that it is probably a sensor. Has anyone had this trouble before?
Thanks for you help in advance

Just solved this problem...

it could be one of 4 possible problems:
1) the type of gas your using... try to use 92 - 94 octane instead of regular to clear up the fuel system which may be the problem (it was my problem)
2) check the spark plugs
3) check all hoses and vacumn hose covers
4) ECU related issue or idling screw as mentioned.

Hi Mazda Speedstar,

I did what you said. I actually added a Gas Treatment and it is running great.

Thanks

You simply have to unplug the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes. Then plug it back it, start her up and let her idle without pressing the gas or anything for like 5-10 minutes.

So whatever you do do it before. After it's done, reset the computer so that the car can "learn" everything from scratch.

(That's my laments term explanation)

I've seen the same effect after changing a really dirty air filter to a brand new one, the car just wasn't used to getting so much air! 5 minutes latter the idle was back down to 750ish.
