The resonators were supposed to quieten it down a bit. However I don't think they did too much - you heard it!!, sorry I chucked em.
What you need I believe is a longer resonator or "hotdog" - mine was about 8". You can mount them where the pipe goes cross wise in front of tyre well, or alternatively about 1' 0" before the rear muffler.
I think Magnaflow do a long 12" plus stainless hotdog, a bit exy at around $100 odd tho'.
The regular ones are only $30.00 or so each.
