Hi guys,

After i had bought my mx6 (6months ago) about a month after that when i started filling the car to full, the fuel gauge doesnt seem to reach the FULL level. it stops just underneath the line. . I have tried so many times to put as much as i can (even overfilling it) and the pointer is still below the Full level.

Is a way to correct this? Fuel wise my car is ok (cheapest i got was 9.8ltrs per 100kms) but i like to see that pointer pass the FULL level when it is full.

got any advice?

well this may seem stupid...but does ur fuel pointer go UNDER the EMPTY line? because if it does, maybe u just need to give the dash gauge or the pointer a push...

one other reason i can think of is the overflow valves(im not sure if the mx6 has it) but many other cars have this to prevent the tank from being overfilled and they spill some out...perhaps this has a crack or somethin therefore letting out fuel before it is actually full

Is your low fuel warning light working ? Perhaps your fuel sender is faulty.

Ive had mine 4 yrs, and have never had it above or on the line. Seems to be one of those things, I can at best squeeze 50 ltrs into its 60 ltr tank and thats with it running with the fuel light on for 70 kms.

Well I have my mx-6 which has stops on the needle
but my Wagon which woudl be similar to your 2nd gen just reaches it when right to the top. Mx-6 goes over and hits the stopper. But Wagon just gets there even on full.

You dont' want to replace a sender unless it's faulty.
your best be is to run it dry, or as far as you can. you mightj sut have some rubbish on the your sender causeing it from reaching top. I know if I do in either car the needle seems to work better.

hey guy's i have the exact same prob as "tlgerdes" even when i overfill i can only get in 50 odd ltres and the needle never hit's Full, also i can drive just over 100km's with the fuel light flashing on and off at me. what's ging on??? are there any fixes for this? otherwise fuel economy is good.

if ur car is 4WS, when the fuel light goes on, you still have 10L of fuel left but the car may be hard to start due to the ridge in the middle of the fuel tank for the 4WS rack(thanks to craig for this info) so its normal.

yeah it's a bitch, I have driven with the lgiht on for about 30mins this was after it stopped flashing on and off.
Form my test ODD flashing is about 17L down to 15L
on up and down hills 15-13L or even 12L
Constant on is from 8L ot 10L
I run it down to 3L if it's right about it being 57L tank. but some say 58L ETC.
Runing it this low can mean you pick up some crap but also means you can fule surge- I get it on high boost loss of power is amazing your at 4000rpm and it stops reving then goes again.
the 4WS tank is a pain, it has it's hump and the pump sits almost on top.

Going up and down hill can make the needle move from empty to 1/4 or on 3/4 to full.

Oh yeah reason for it hard to starting is because it loses fuel pressure with the tank so low. funny thing I've seen merchanical fuel pumped cars hold 5psi on weekend on a very low tank.
Even with out pressuised tank either?

My gauge dosen't get to full, but it's my fault.
When I put on my white gauges I put the needle back on in the position (slightly). Can't be bothered to pull it back out until Christmas when I've got some time and some ORANGE faced gauges. I thought they might look good against the Blue and grey interior.

When my needle went up just past "full", the light came on just under quarter on the gauge, now it comes on at "Empty".

when the fuel is low..does the ECU automatically turn the boost down? cause ive noticed a drop of boost when my tank is low.
