I hear people talk about getting off the line well, and since I am not much of a racer, I don't exactly know how to do this. Do simply rev to about 3000 rpms and then pop the clutch, or is there more of a trick to it?

I don't remember exactly, but I had a dirt track racer in my 93 v6 ls who said my power range was rev to five pop the clutch 5, 4, 3, 3

at least that's what I think he said i don't remember I just know the first two were 5

you can do it like you said. this is better if you are not a good racer yet and will make your clutch last longer.

the other option is to bring it up to about 4500-5500 and feather the clutch out... this takes practice but will prove better on the strip...
