Really need some kelp with this one...a couple of weeks ago I was driving at about 60 kph and my 94 Probe Auto wouldn't accelerate any further...it would rev to about 4,000RPM's but nothing...only when I slowly take my foot off the accelerator would it ever slowly increase in speed. In the last week I am lucky to go past 20 kph!!! Have been told it could be the ditributor, but a mechanic friend says I need to replace the PCM...I had a bunch of codes but after replacing a few sensors, no codes anymore...until you disconnect the MAF for example whilst the engine is running...then it shows but after clearing the codes (disconnect the battery and press brake pedal), then nothing. PLEASE HELP!
When you try to accelerate hard does it just die or does (or at least did) it kind of buck and jerk? Usually it is the disty that causes the problem. Fuel injectors and drivers (which are in the pcm) could also cause a problem like that, but it is far less common.
Yeah mate...that's what it does and it seems to be getting worse. It sputters and I can't even drive it. Have been told that it could be a blocked exhaust, dizzy or PCM issue...any thoughts?
Easiest way is to borrow one from a friend (I always have a spare) and pop it in. Takes about 5 or 10 minutes. Way faster than going through all the diagnostics.
