This thread is dedicated to stock and aftermarket replacement headlights and tail lights for the 2g Mx6.

I pulled photos from many places and often without permission. If anyone has objections to the pictures I used please let me know.

Headlights

Angel eyes: Available on Ebay or from members on the forums. These come black but may be painted to match the body color.

Black

Painted Body Color

Angel eyes with GTS covers: GTS covers are covers made to go over stock ASPEC lights that have been fit onto the Angel Eye housings. They are available from local parts stores and here, as well as other websites. A search may turn up better prices.

Clear

Tinted

Tinted Aspecs: Spray tint applied to stock headlights. Not very safe or legal.

Jspecs: Available on Japanese Mx6's. Requires cutting part of the radiator support to fit into an Aspec Mx6.

Tailights:

Altezzas: Available on Ebay and possibly other websites. They are exact matches to stock lights so they install easily.

They look good when you install LED lights into them. LED bulbs can be found here.

LED bulbs installed into Altezzas:

Chrome

Black

Black with Chrome Strip

Solid Black: These lights were pulled apart so that the chrome strip could be painted black.

Carbon Fiber: look alike, not real carbon.

Smoked altezzas: They sell these on ebay or you can do your own spray tint on them.

Ebay Version

Home Made Version

Jspecs: Available on Japanese Mx6's. They have slightly larger turn signal indicators than Aspec tails.

Especs: Available on European Mx6's. RHD Espec has reverse light on the left side. LHD on the right.

Tinted tail lights: Stock tail lights with spray tint on them.

Tinted with custom circles

Vinyl cutouts: Pieces of Vinyl cut out to cover parts of the tail light.

M-editions/all red tinted: M-edition tail lights were available on 1996 M-edition Mx6's. You can also mimic the look by painting your turn signals red.

Angel Eyes: are they brighter than stock A-spec?

I bought some Angel Eyes last winter when I got my car. Here in Alaska, driving in the dark is a big deal - it's long nights coupled, bad snow, etc. The stock lights were so bad it was UNDRIVABLE....so I looked around, found this site, found about the options I had, and sent off for Ebay Angel Eyes. Now, in the meantime, I bought some Sylvania Gold Halogens - and they were so much better, that with a haze-kit to clear some the bad lens on my headlights, that I never installed the Angel Eyes.

So last night, with driving in the dark happening again, I tried the Angel Eyes. Took me about 2 hours total, outside in the dark, with a flashlight
The wiring for the led halo sucks, teen wires, too short, no connectors, but I'll had some cheap connectors later, right now they are wired to the parking lights.

Cosmetic stuff anyway.

What I wanted to right was that they are a LOT brighter. So bright, I can't tell when I turn on my fog lights (also severly hazed lol) while with the stockers I keep the fogs on for the little "extra" they provide.

They also suck to aim. The adjustment screw are rigidly mounted to the light housing, and don't adjust up and down much. I flipped the rh low beem upside down to be able to pull it off off the road right in front of me.
But they do light up the road better. Dispersion isn't good, they seem to be spot driving beams, but they are better than crappy A-specs.

The ones with HID projector lights may be even better, with more side-side lighting, and hopefully better aiming. But if you are desperate to be able to see, they do the job.

The s15 one would be sweet man if i had a garage plus skill i would go for it. But to take to a body shop ha that woulf be just wasting lots of money for somthing that would be very hard to replace if there is ever front end damage

^I agree with this guy. I pretty much have a love affair with the Silvia S15, mainly because of those headlights. I'd love to give that a shot if I had the time.

Long term update:

I bought some Angel Eyes last winter--bla bla ---
-- but they are better than crappy A-specs.
NOT better after a winter of use, with sanded road and crap on them, the let moisture and dirt inside the lens, the reflector mirror coating wipes off when you t try to clean them.

The ones with HID projector lights may be even better, with more side-side lighting, and hopefully better aiming. But if you are desperate to be able to see, they do the job.
Also you should expect to get the covers available for them - with clear covers, the dirt/moisture intrusion would be greatly alleviated. They would still suck to aim. Again, projector versions may work better, still use the covers IMHO.

Lastly, I now have J-specs, I've had them a couple weeks, with HID in the low beam. VAST improvement. They came with the HID, so I can't say how important that is or is not - my guess is that they are great with halogen too. The high beams are fantastic, and they are still halogen. I wish I'd never wasted any money on anything else and had gotten E or J specs right off the bat.

Wire the pos and negative coming off the halo into the side marker lights....NOT BLINKERS! or you can buy a fog light wiring kit and some of them came with hook UPS off of eBay for the halo look carefully. Runs about 20 for the kit or maybe 5 for some small lengths of wire and connectors.

Also you should assume to get the concealments available for them - with clear covers; the dust/dampness intrusion would be greatly alleviated. They would still suck to aim. Again, projector versions may work better, still use the covers IMHO.

kelvis, why do you keep putting that link at the bottom of your posts? You also did the same as user rousan, which I banned. I suggest you stop adding that link to your posts if you want to stay on this site.
