Has anyone besides me thought of building custom rear control arms with Heim jointed (Rose jointed) ends?

Like this:

These are made for a Corvair, but you can see that a similiar design would work for our cars. Replacement Mazda control arms are crazy expensive and nobody offers polyurethane bushings for us. I bet most of us need new control arms back there by now too (when you hit a bump while going around a corner do you ever feel the bakc of your car wiggle sideways?)

Thoughts?

It seems like a great idea, but, really expensive. Getting a shop to fabricate them seems like it would cost a lot. I would definitely go for something like that though, IF the cost could be kept down.

Well, I've already done some research and found a great place to get the rod ends:

They recommend the FK, JM, or JMT series for street use. You can also get the same ones as used in F1 if you have enough money. Check it out.

interesting. I know several SCCA solo 2 mustang racers (cp & esp) have made their own rear control arms. Granted they are of a difrent design, it could be doable for us. One guy in perticular made his, created a gig and now sells copies. Could be very doable for someone with acess to a mig welder, plasma cutter, band saw and shop. Once some proto types are made, the rest would be easy. Just my $.02
