beginning when driving over small potholes i hear an annoying clunking like a plastic can sitting on engine near the drivers side firewall-or inside the firewall.
parts mounted on engine firewall appear tight.
the struts are new, rubber mounts are good, and have new inner tierods.
balljoint and tierod ends are original yet seem ok.
have removed drivers underpanel and panel above but do not find anything loose inside such as speaker, and plastic boxes etc.
am perplexed.
if i remove cowling over firewall what is in there to become loose and clunk?

Have you checked the control arm bushings?

How about the strut mount bearings?

These are the two culprits to my PGL clunking noises.

Otherwise, it is typical to hear some clunking in these cars.

yeah, could be.

while i recently rebuilt all my struts i have not closely looked at my control arms.
time for the pry bar and jack.
