First of all you should take care of any maintenance related issues (oil, belts, filters, gaskets, o2 sensors) if needed before doing upgrades. After all that's taken care of you could start by adding a K&N drop-in filter or CAI and install a non-ricer cat-back system. That should get you started. You won't get phenomenal HP and TQ gains unless you go forced induction so don't expect 30 HP from a filter and exhaust.
