your right, its not a good ideal to replace just six when you have to take them all out at the same time, being on a tight budget and it was only the left side to replace, i thought i would do those for now and the rest later, but as previuosly stated the culprit was just a severaly blown gasket, and that has finally been fixed.

I bought 2 for $30 apiece. Did I get reamed or what? I thought it was $30 a set. Once I saw the price I said F that, give me two. The head is rebuilt and only 2 had scaring (seized valves). I found that some auto part site call these "cam followers". Just FYI.

You got hosed :p

www.Rockauto.com has good prices on a lot of car parts, but they only ship fedex.

They are $17 each there, cheaper than your source, but not near as cheap as flatlandracing.

Cam followers is the "american muscle" name I guess. That's what I was always taught they were. But hla's sounds easy enough to me.

I thought it was no lifters and yes to rocker arms. The rocker arms ride directly on the cam, no lifters pushing rods. Instead of having adjustable valve clearance with a screw and lock nut which open the valve. There is an HLA that sits in end of the rocker. These use oil pressure to automatically adjust so the HLA's are in contact with the valve stems at all times. The internal seal in them (a little oring) tends to start leaking pressure so they need either rebuilt or replaced depending on how dirty the engine is. This losing pressure and allowing a gap between the vlavle and the HLA is the most common ticking noise these cars have. imo. At this price it is worth it to buy these, I would but I have other parts to buy right now.
