I went to a shop the other day to see about getting a flange for my DSM bypass, I wanted to get it mounted to a piece of pipe to replace the stock bypass, well the guy said..."why would you even want to do this?...you should just get the whole thing from turbo to intercooler in 2 inch...I'll do it for $150"...not a bad price ....I'm going to get it done next Saturday, but I don't want or need to upgrade the VAF pipe or the Throttle body or intercooler to throttle body untill I have a Walbro 190. I talked to him about the sizes for a pipe kit and mentioned the outrageous price of the HKS kit, he agreed!!!!....the kit will consist of a 2 inch pipe from the turbo to bypass, and continuing 2 inch from bypass to intercooler (provided you are using the stock bypass....otherwise specify what BOV and where you have it placed...but you most likely will still be on your own with the actual install..alot easier that way)...the VAF pipe will be 2 1/4 inch
and the intercooler to throttle body will also be 2 1/4 inch...but will most likely be in 2 sections.....the kit will come with silicone adaptors, and will be constructed of aluminum, unpainted (keeping the cost down)....I need to know how many of you would be interested and whether or not you'd be willing to put a downpayment...as these can be manufactured RIGHT AWAY...the total cost appears to be between $200 and $250....alot cheaper than HKS...and alot cheaper than Charles kit....this isnt an attempt to flame or outsell another members product...just giving the info so we as a whole have more options.....

the most important is that I NEED TO KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU ARE INTERESTED....I will take a picture of my turbo to intercooler and do a write up on how well it is constructed, I'm going to try to have a whole kit made so you guys can see it...when I was at the shop I saw a turbo oldskool Beetle that has a tone of twisted pipes and bends and welds and are all the owners handywork...they were really nice and I am also going there for my Exhaust 3 inch from the turbo back...if any of you live in SoCal..San Diego specifically, the shops name is Shear Speed, and specializes in Turbo applications...it's located in Escondido....guys let me know as the more of you that are interested, the lower the price will be.....I'd like to get at least 10 interested before I show him this thread, but 5 would suffice for now I think

No offense, but theres a lot of talk about I/C pipe kits, but none have ever been sold to the public, at least in bulk. I know everyone is enthusiastic about buying/selling them, but its all been talk. No one's really stepped up yet.

Honestly, I grew tired of waiting and since there is no custom exhuast shops here to speak of so I bought a set of used HKS pipes. These cars aren't exactly spring chickens anymore, I didn't want to put this off another year.

Anyway, my point is if your gonna talk the talk, then walk the walk. The first person to make these in bulk is gonna get a ton of buyers. Just don't make any false promises.

that's what I'm saying....THIS KIT IS A DEFINATE, there only needs to be an interest of buyers. The kit will be constructed with 2 inch pipes and with 2 1/4 inch pipes. It will be a welded system rather than a mandrel system, but the type of welding used will be professional and the type that doesnt leak inside of the pipes (I'm not sure of the term for the type of weld, but I saw a pipe kit with the same welds and felt it with my finger, very high quality, with an almost non existant seam) like I said, I am going to get mine done this Saturday, I will post pictures of the product as well as do a write up. At this point I have only discussed the upper intercooler piping ( for my car) and the possibility of a whole system as a bulk buy. The owner of the shop would like to see that there is a GENUINE interest in the product, this doesnt mean that you have to send money right away, but we don't want to waste his time. I will check on the prices of a full system, as well as individual parts, can you guys please post what you are interested in?......

ALTHOUGH....it would be better for us as a whole if you guys could post only if you are interested in a whole system, as selling it as halves, or, "JUST THE VAF PIPE" gets plain out confusing:confused: ...not to mention that if you want to upgrade to a full system later, you're actually going to pay more.....,might as well do it right the first time ya know .......

anyways...please post your interest so I can show him this thread, and if you post your interest, please be prepared to shell out a deposit so the deal gets done, i think that's where some of the problem lies...the product starts to get going, and then people don't have the money...no one likes to lose money

there are a couple things that I am going to try to work on as far as keeping the price down, I would also however like to keep it simple.

cost for whole kit including silicone.

cost for whole kit without silicone

cost for individual pipes

that would be about the simplest plan of action to assure that things don't get twisted and confused and frustrations ets in, and once again, no one gets a pipe kit.

like I said, this is almost a sure thing, provided there is enough interest.....please post, whole kit w/silicone, whole kit wo/silicone, or individual pieces-although this isnt in your best interest

no it really isnt about competition, its about getting a product out that is in demand. I myself won't make any money off of this, I'm not trying to. My idea wasnt to try and undercut anyones prices, well..of course it is to some degree, but not on purpose, and not as some devious plan to undermine another members attempt to sell a product. It was simply started to get a product out, and I even mentioned that it wasnt meant to undercut your prices, but the facts remain...the price is looking to be between $200 and $250, your kit will most likely cost more, but from what I understand, the construction will also be different, you are using mandrel bent piping rather than welded mandrel bends no?...so that right there might sway some members into buying your kit over a welded kit, some might not care, and go for a welded kit provided it is a professional job...who knows?...like I said, it is only an attempt to get a product out...members all have a brain and are capable of their own decisions, this thread need not start a flame war, or who's product is better, or who's costs less, or who's is too expensive...that's all BS. I just need to know who is interested in a kit based on the available information on the price and construction OF the kit...that's all

GUYS......I need you to reply if you are interested, I guess maybe more interest will show when pictures are posted, but I don't want this to go on the back burner like everything else does. IT IS A GIVEN, the kit will be made, but only if there is interest. I'm trying to be the middle man to make sure that it gets done, but that is all that I can do...if you don't post

I have posted it on probetalk.com and performanceprobe.com as well, hopefully between all 3 sites, we'll be able to get something started. The owner of the company has allready agreed to make the kit, but won't mass produce the kit without GENUINE interest. I'm hoping that after I get mine done, you guys will show SOME interest, it's no wonder that nothing ever gets done for our cars:rolleyes:

so I got the turbo to intercooler pipe done today, boost feels alot more consistant through the rpm range(no swelling of the stock rubber hose)....he used 2 inch from the turbo to intercooler and also made a flange to adapt my DSM bypass, the piping itself was painted with ordinary gunmetal spray paint, ceramic paint, while holding heat from coming inside, also works the opposite, STOPPING heat from LEAVING. I wanted to stay away from the ceramic paint for that reason. Overall I can say that I am very impressed with the work performed. It ended up taking a little longer because of the DSM flange, but after that was done, it was all gravy. The shop itself is a small shop which specializes in rebuilds, regular car maintenance (pays the bills) and also turbo applications (racing of course). I have some pictures but I have to upload them, I broke my USB cable for my digi and havent replaced it yet ( I went to look for one today and a Sony specific costs $60....and I couldnt find one that would work that was an off brand)...so as soon as I FIGURE OUT THIS CAMERA SITUATION, YOU GUYS WILL HAVE SOME PICTURES

sorry about the last post seeming a little crude, but I expected a little more interest in a project like this...it just seems like everytime something starts to get done, there is either no interest, someone starts b!tching, or the project just gets forgotten about...and then everyone starts b!tching again..."?whatever happened to______"<insert project here:lol:
