I saw a 95 v6 5 speed MX 2nd gen in the "dealer huge advertisement" today for $4700 with 88k miles on it... silver, etc...etc... (EDIT... $4700 not $3700)

Saw it there on my way to school and on my way back home, I stopped by to check it out.... Drove it... and so on...

I'm suprised how smooth they are. The power is there, and I think it would make a great addition (2nd car for weekends, etc...)

I'm doing a little homework on it, and running a carfax on it, and I'll go back and check out the common probs, etc...

It seemed in VERY good condiiton, A/c worked..... the funny thing is that it's the same dealer I bought my 92 MX from a few months back.

Also, the original thing I was going to post, was where can I get floor mats for the 1st gen MX (my 1992 DX)? The dealer said he can't get them, and I didn't see anything in the SEARCH for them, other than the 2nd gens.... thanks.

EDIT: On a side not, if it makes you feel better, I like the build quality and feem much better in my 92 MX DX. I woul dhave to agree that the 2nd gen feels like a ford. :)

I've driven a 2nd gen probe, and I will agree that the KL03 is a nice smooth revving motor, but it lacks the ballsy feel of my GT's low end torque spike (Not so much your DX).

They are also a lot harder to get a lot of power out of, Their motorswap of choice, the KLZE comes stock with 10:1 compression pistons, which limits forced induction options greatly.

If I were to build a 2nd gen (Which I won't, though I might put a KL motor in a MX-3 or a Escort someday) I would use the KL03 block, with all 4 KLZE Cams, the KLZE intake manifold and throttlebody.

You end up with a low compression KLZE, which is perfect for forced induction :)

Good news!!! I didn't buy it! hehe...

When I was looking it over REALLY hard (trying to make the car sound like a POS to make the price go down), I lifted up the carpet in the trunk and it was COMPLETELY rusted... the car was clean everywhere else except there... It was so bad I could literally push on the metal and you can hear the "crunch" noise....

Needless to say, I passed on it.... Also, ever want to make a car salesman speechless? Find something like that.... as I'm searching it over he's like "Just look at the spark plug wires. They are new lookin' so ya know it's been taken care of"..... HAHAHAHAH **gasps **bwahahaha!!!....

When he saw me find the rust and how bad it was he just didn't say a word... Kinda an awkward silence. :)

I think I may look for a GT instead.

Hey ZFreakMX6:
Glad to see ya came back around and regained your senses !
While the 2nd genners can "woo" you over in some respects, the original is naturally raw fun in it's pure gut's GT version.
Once hooked, you won't fall off.......Good luck in your search !
