you mean while your idling your car revs up to bout 2,000rpm, then drops, then revs, drops?

I believe its the throttle position that does that? Mr MX6 fixed mine :)

A bad TPS can also act similar to an IAC problem, but to answer your question...NO they are different. They CAN both be used on either motor but the ZE IAC gets its vacuum supply from the throttle body whereas the DE IAC gets its vacuum from a rather large vac hose connected to the DE intake manifold (which is obviously not present on a ZE IM).

Try taking the IAC apart and cleaning it out with brake cleaner...could be that it's all gunked up.
