I currently have progressive auto insurance, and my policy just went up, and like an idiot i renewed it without thinking. I've only been with them for six months now, and just started a new policy. Is it possible to change companies mid policy, and if it is, is there a penalty and what kind of ballpark am i looking at for this penalty?

Might depend on your state but in Washington you can switch any time you want.

You should be pro rated and recieve a refund if you paid ahead.

^^ What he said. If you already paid for the month you'll get a refund. But it's better to start your new insurance policy before cancelling this one. You don't want to have a period where you're not insured...cuz that's when everything will happen unfortunately :(

if you have a costco membership, they offer some kickass insurance rates, especially if you're 25 and over. anywhere else I looked was 100 bucks more and not as good coverage
