Interesting stuff....

Well, I killed 2 birds with one stone today......

It smelled kinda musty [in my trunk] when I was bringing some groceries in today, so I lifted the carpet up and it was all wet underneath...... I know this is a common prob with these cars...

I pulled EVERYTHING out, dried it out, cleaned it all with "greased lightning" cleaner, and then I used some silicone sealer to seal the spots where I could see light coming through.....

My spare was low on air, filled that... the "rattle" i thought was coming from my R/R shock tower was my jack, which is rusted shut (not a single spot of rust in the trunk, except for the jack) and it snapped when I tried to get it to move....so I need a new (used) one of those... THat was what was rattling...

So, just to verify, the "holes" on the sides of the trunk I sealed, and also I sealed around the "rubber plugs" on the bottom area, around where the tire normally sits.... I could see light coming from these areas, so they're all sealed up now... any other spots you'd recommend I seal up while I'm in there?

There's no rattle when I go over bumps anymore!!! woohoo! (It's a relief when you're in your car for 2+ hours a day...

Most leaks in the trunks come from the tail lights. The rubber plugs should drain the water out, not in. Mine was leaking from my spoiler mounts (they were rusted out), my tail lights, and apparently somewhere else as I find water in there sometimes but can't figure out where it comes from. Maybe I should sleep in there one day and wait for it to rain :E hehe. Anyways, try those spots too, otherwise you may still get some leaks. The tail lights, you will need to silicone them as well as around them, the lights let some in too.
