It's Getting Worse!!

So I found a vacuum hose that I connected back into my air box and it ran fine, but now it's starting to run like crap again. It'll randomly rev up to about 2,500 then 3,400 in park and when I shift into drive the revs just drop, then in traffic it'll rev to 1,500 while driving or slowing down.

Today at the gas station it wouldnt start (it does this sometimes but starts after a bit) so I had to give it so much gas for it to fire up. Also while I'm driving it sputters and when I push the gas pedal down the revs drop and the car loses power and if I force it grey smoke will puff out my exhaust and my tip will be caked with black stuff.

I checked all my vacuum lines and there are no leaks, the previous owner got a new distributor last year so that can't be it, what could it be??? I really need to find out as I drive my car about 70 kms a day.

Could it be my...

-TPS
-IAC
-Spark plugs
-ECU
-Fuel filter
-Vacuum lines

What do you think would be the first thing to cause all of this, it has to relate with the issues of not starting sometimes and loss of power while driving.

how longs it been since you've changes ur fuel filter, that might be a good place to start, even if it isn't the problem it eliminates fuel being the problem, so it would either be electrical or something with air, since air isn't much of a factor on these systems because its drawn by vacuums check the vacuum lines to the manifold and if you don't find the problem you will have to dig much deep most likely

Wheres the fuel filter located? Is it in the engine bay? I was about to buy one last week but I had no idea where the old filter was located so I just put the new filter back.

its pretty easy to find look right under you air filter and you should see it, ill try and get some pics 4 ya if you need em but no promise, k ttyl
