alright, i got this car a week ago, but too busy with work and school. the car is whitem has 147800kms, digital gauges, 5spd, no sunroofm turbo. the milf that i bought it from told me it was running for a year. the car didn't start at all, well it did but took several tries. she told me the problem was the distributor, but call i did was put new gas and a can of some fuel treatment and it started right up!

anyways, since the car hasn't been running for a year what should i change? all the fluids? i just did the oil and filter last week, planning on chaning it again since the oil was sooo black and thick.

another thing that concerns is is that smoke is coming from my engine.....mostly, if not all, from the turbo. (it doesn't have a heatshield)

is that smoking normal?

Is it coming from the engine or is it visibly coming from your turbo? If it's your turbo then your seals are probably shot, and depending on how long it's been like that and driven the turbo may be shot too. If it's coming from the engine somewhere we need to know where exactly to help you diagnose it. What I would do is change ALL fluids. Then I'd get the intake piping off the turbo and see if the shaft is loose; either up and down or in and out. Also, if you can see into it, do a visual check of the blades on the compressor wheel. After that I'd start it up and go from there.

alright thanks 88MX6GT for the reply. yes i can see it coming from the turbo, no where else. i hooked up my old boost gauge, and it goes to 10 psi. also i've noticed that my 6 has 2 cats.....so it goes from the d/p --> cat --> flex pipe --> cat --> muffler. my old 6 had only 1 and no flex pipe.

i will get back to you on saturday with the results of the turbo and fluids.
