i finally finished replacing the exhuast manifold gasket today, and replaceing the water return line and pipe, and disconnecting the egr pipe, everything went perfect car started right up, but wait there is a problem where the he%$ did the tick of death go, the hla's are noloner ticking, hu , im confused and guess that the exhuast manifold gasket i replaced was so badly blown on the one side that you could hear inside the two exhuast ports on that side. weird just plain werid, but teh car runs perfect.

An exhaust leak will also tick very much like a bad lifter. That's probably what you were hearing.
