Hey guys, if you haven't noticed I havent raced in quite a while, and it's been pretty damn boring driving out there.

Anyways I took my MX-6 out tonight (Thursday) because it was really nice out, and I was cruising around when I saw a new Jetta 1.8T start to pass me right before I was getting on the highway, and I could hear his "tiny" turbo spool as he was beside me, anyways, when we got on the highway I knew he wanted to go judging by the way he was driving before we got on the on ramp.

So I got next to him at about 70mph and we took off at the same time, and I put one car length on him by the end of 3rd gear, and about half a car in 4th, and kept him there up to 125mph in 5th.

I then let off and we slowed down to 70 again and went again only this time he went and I chased, and I put half a car length on him by the end of 3rd again and kept him there until the top of 4th, when he started to inch on me, and when I put it in 5th (at about 105mph) he inched past me and ended up putting me a car length behind by the time we hit 130mph.

I was really surprised at how he did that, I actually assume that he sprayed on me the second race, because the first race he didn't pull on me at all, plus I never thought that 1.8T's have top end over an LS, I've driven several of them, and their power band is all low to mid range, that tiny turbo runs out of breath above 5500rpm. So either I was wrong about 1.8T's or he had a turbo upgrade or N20 (like I assumed) even though his exhaust was stock, I have to give it to him for that.

Oh yeah during the end of the second race we passed (flew pased) a M3 (about a 1997) and a Audi TT w/dual exhaust (not sure how much power they have, it's more than 180hp) well the M3 decided to show us what his car could do with us, so he quickly caught up (M3's intake, exhaust sounded sweet) and flew past us with the TT chasing him, the Jetta also chased and I cruised the rest of the way, since I knew I had no chance against that car.

Oh and this took place on a empty 2 lane (each way) highway with almost no traffic at all at midnight.

BTW my car ran a [email protected] and I now have an exhaust leak.

would the tt not have the same drivetrain as the jetta?
Yes it does, but the TT with dual exhaust has a little more hp (I think) But I would imagine it's slower on top end compared to the Jetta, due to the extra weight of AWD.

sounds like a great time. i wish my mom would let me drive her m3 other than down the road to get gas. she doesnt trust me with it at all. (her last car, a 02 passat 1.8t 5spd, i blew out two exhaust valves, screwed up the traction control, and messed up the turbo somehow. at least thats what they said.) good racin btw
