Ive had a hissing noise coming from under the engine, or in that area for the longest time now, and i just heard someone mention that the exhuast manifold studs tend to break and cause a hiss upon acceleration, how easy would it be to fix these broken studs? How do i do it? Where are they located? Could i just block up the leak with a putty or something?

I doubt anything would plug up a manifold leak for long, except for metal.

The studs are on the head, and it depends on where the break is. If it breaks and leaves you some of the stud remaining, you can use a pair of vice-grips or stud remover tool. Otherwise you have to drill'em out. There's a special tool for this as well. When you do this, you also have to buy new manifold & flange gaskets.

I think it's a pain in the butt. I've done it several times now.
