Buy a code reader from Ebay for about £25-30, and read the fault codes..

Most likely is the O2 sensor/s, although you might as well check and clean the air filter, and check the plugs/leads...

got to be cheaper than a garage..

You have no idea how much that made me laugh!! If you could only know how useless I am when it comes to cars and their workings, you fall about laughing. I can understand a bit about the theory but when it comes to actually being able to do something, well the phrase "chocolate fireguard" is about right.

Had a fiddle it looks like either a failed/failing lambda or cat, hoping it is the lambda, trouble is I can't even find the bleeding lambda.
