autobacs sucks. autozone has better prices on redline oil.
cool to check out all the ricers parts and annoy people with the horns @-
Yeah, but you can't exactly walk into autozone and have them get you a set of JIC coilovers out of the back, now can you? Convinience carries a cost. That's why startbucks is so expensive; you can get coffee just about anywhere.

Autobacs carries about every type of damn bulb, brakerotor (the have the Powerstop rotors for the 1g 6's in stock), brakepad, stereolevel, rim, tire, airfilter (does autozone carry the hks filter replacements I'd need?), seat, steering wheel, and shift knob. And if they don't have it they can order it...then install it...

You pay a price for convinience.

I don't shop at autozone, just pointing out how bad autobac's prices are.
You'd think they have deals since they're so big but they don't.
It's just a rice-wonderland.

Starbucks is expensive cuz their coffee is good and people are stupid...
Autobacs is expensive cuz their parts are good and people are too stupid to look around and find them for cheaper...

Why would you want a HKS filter? They are crap.
http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/index.html

airfilters? I couldn't find a 3" filter other than the HKS crap. They did have a bunch of ghetto-ass 4" metal filters...

wheels, tires, seats, turbo kits, yeah sure. horribly high prices, hell yes!!

oh gawd, lights? easy there ricer boy
and what you want the car soap and air fresheners from japan?

You're paying to get ripped off.

For the record, I've never bought anything there. I don't use "hyper-white" bulbs. Look at my website and tell me If I'm a ricer. wanna see what I'm into? Go here

Next. You bring up a good point, but I don't think people are too stupid to look elsewhere. They are too lazy. Hence, they are paying for convenience. Think Denny's. I never eat at denny's unless I am traveling and need to get something to eat at 4am. prices are high for the quality of food you get, but they are the only place open. I'm not stupid. when other things are open I don't eat there. I never drink starbucks when I can make the same stuff at home, and better. All you are paying for starbucks is the convenience. think "fast, cheap, good. Pick two." If you think Starbucks is worth the money, you have no sense of value.

Concerning the "test," you should read your own source: "It is questionable how accurate the original source of data is, as HKS are proven to sell more induction kits than any one of the others featured in the test, and yet there induction kit rates as the worst kit in the test." If I rememeber right from the original test (japanese translated, not paraphrased), it seemed like a big PR stunt for APEXi. sounds fishy to me. But then agian, maybe HKS is just trying to rip people off:rolleyes:

To get back to the main point, let's put it down. You're telling me that being able to go to a place, buy just about anything for just about any car, and have it installed while you wait, doesn't justify any increase in cost? How many other places are as large? Or as acessible? It's not a conspiracy, rice-o-phobe.:D

Every rally guy I know with a HK$ filtter trashed it cuz they don't filter for crap.
And if you've never bought anything at autobacs why are you hyping it up like it's toys-r-us?
Try getting info from real racers not some street kids. And your site don't work.

I'm not hyping "Toys-r-Autobacs," I'm making a point about value and the price you pay for convenience. You obviously saw past that and focused on the "rice" that wasn't there.

So the sites down. I didn't check that before I posted. Basically it was a website that stated most of the things I've read in this book . I bet next you're gonna tell me that learning proper driving technique from a guy who learned how to drive well before I was born is stupid? Or that just because the book was written around RWD cars I'm stupid for reading it (forgeting that properties like weight transfer are fairly universal)? Memebers of this board I listen to include people like gavin and Sleepcounter. These are the type of people I listen to. People with experience. Level headed people. Rational people who listen to someone else's side of a discussion instead of judging the other person. Don't think you know me. Don't discount my opinion because you see a few statements, think "ricer," then shut me off.

Peace.

I'm sure it covers the basics and I doubt there's many books out there that even mention fwd. Who cares, I don't have have one, never will...
Bob's a good guy too, still into his Datsun roots...
If you want another good book on driving try to find this book.

btw, Autobacs does have a decent selection of books...

You guys need to go to Autobacs. It is a giant Pep Boys, but thank God there's one there.

And the work they do is top notch. I've had a few shops work on my cars once in awhile and Autobacs is probably one of the most competent. If I was to have any shop install anything on my Mx6 and had the money, I'd go to Autobacs.

As for prices, THEY'RE CHEAP. To the average guy, probably not, but to a club, major discout. Last time we went their, Damon managed to score like a 45% discount. Stuff were like almost half price from even eBay. So the whole price argument only goes so far. I'm surprise nothing has been worked out between SCPOC and them yet. You guys need to bug Damon now. Think of it, an exclusive membership incentive would make SCPOC swell in size.

The previous owner of my car handed me a folder full of receipts. He was from Pasedena, and it looks like he frequented these two shops the most:

Gonzalez Foreign Car Service
Mazda Specialist
1079 N. Allen Ave.
Pasedena, CA
(626) 798-7748

Alhambra Mazda
1200 W. Main St.
Alhambra, CA
