Hey Guys,

I just made the post below, if any of you can offer advice, id appreciate it. If I can't get the custom stuff removed for free, will anyone here maybe do it for less money/lots of beer? Thanks :(

Hey Dan dont worry. Im sure its some minor bullshit u gota fix. Electrical problems are a pain but dont be discouraged cause ur mx6 has a flu lol. Dont worry the LED kit and ur ride will/should work fine after all this is fixed but thats soo weird. I had an alternator prob wit my 1st 6. The charge/ 4WS lights came on. During that time period i started to hate my car but hey wat can u do wen ur ryde has the flu lol. It jus needs some fixer upper and its gonna run fyne.

Hey import thanks for the support man, I actually kept thinking of your phrase 'it just has a flu' over the course of the week and it kept me motivated to get this stuff fixed so I can move on.

I got the alternator replaced today, amazingly I have two shops within a few blocks that specialize in this stuff.

Im having new problems now though lol.... stereo won't work and im not sure if I fried the deck (maybe when the car was having so much trouble it messed with the deck??) or if maybe some of the wiring is just messed up..

I made a new thread.... its what im good at haha - http://www.mx6.com/forums/2g-mx6-general/215619-alternator-replaced-stereo-effed.html

The good news is I won't be taking the bus again next week.... hopefully anyways :D
Check the fuse to the deck (the one that's in the back of the actual deck, or inline in the constant power 12v going to the deck) It'll probably be a 10A mini-fuse.

Thanks for the suggestions Alatar, I appreciate the help!!

I was able to get it working this morning, oddly enough, all I had to do was eject the CD in the deck... I had pressed every other button on the deck but it seems I missed the 'magic one' lol :p
so dan what exactly is left i mean whats not workin in ur car anymore??? are the problems eliminated?

It seems that for the most part things are good :)

Since replacing the alternator two minor annoyances have come up:

1) My subwoofer seems to be getting far more power than it did before. If I turn my stereo to even half volume, ill blow fuses in my amp. I had the amp tuned way up before and it seemed rather soft (for a 540 watt JBL competition series anyways...) but now its too high. Not sure if it makes any sense but I almost wonder if my old setup couldn't produce enough power to fully power the amp?

2) My idle is way too low now. I idle at about 300 rpm on a warm engine, and sometimes it drops even lower, to like 200. The car noticably shakes when this happens. It could be that I need new spark plugs, or even simpler, I might just need to turn up the idle a bit. Im not sure how this is done so any tips would be great :) I've heard you have to 'connect the 10 and ground pin on the IAC unit, then turn a screw with a screwdriver to turn it up', but Im not sure what my IAC is.... or which pins to connect... or that I even have a random wire kicking around I can use for this :p

Other than that, my car got me to work all of last week, and hasnt stalled, or given any major error codes. My 'check engine' light came on once, for about 10 seconds, then went away, and hasn't returned. Its done that 3 times this year now... so, could be a sketchy sensor. In my last mx6, the check engine light never went off, and no one at Mazda on kingsway knew why, but the car ran just fine anyways :p

hehe, so thats my current 'state of things', im glad to hear you were able to get your clutch fixed so quickly man :) Im dreading the next 20,000km's because my timing belt will need to get replaced im sure...

yeah what the hell do those guys workin at Mazda Dealerships know........nothing
Hey Dan thats good to hear that things are slowly returning to normal for you. Is your car audio system grounded/wired properly ? you blowing ur amp fuse kinda reminds me of what my old 6 used to do. The amp always used to blow fuses and i remember after that i had an alternator problem. Dude as long as you can drive to n from work with 700rpm idle thats enough. The major prob now is ur audio system. It seems as though ur car flu moved frm the under car kit lights to your charging system now to ur car audio system. Something minor is going on for sure.
